Birth Control, Contraceptives and Catholicism

Catholic views on modern contraceptives

It is a common thing now days to see Christian married couples with two or three children and have decided that they are happy with the size of their family and don't want any more. The problem with this is that we as a people have lost our trust and faith in God. We don't realize that God will not give us anything we can not handle. That includes children.

"Children are a gift from God" Genesis 17:16, 20, 29:32-33, 33:5

Catholics stand firm on the belief that natural family planning is the only acceptable form of birth control. Yet, more and more Catholics are becoming non-traditionalists and following the modern culture instead of what is Biblical and still very important in our society. Most people don't realize that contraceptives were very commonly prohibited by ALL Christians - Protestant, Orthodox and Catholic - until 1930. It is a Biblical and patristic belief.

Money, selfishness and comfort have made the idea of "large" families a burden and something that is not desired by many. For others, there are physical illnesses that can cause people to make this rash decision as to protect their own life. I for one, was on my death bed for the first two of my three children's deliveries. I was terrified on my third, but through prayer, love and trust, we made it through with out any problems at all... Many would have made the decision after the first or second troubled delivery to stop having children, but then I wouldn't have my little baby girl that came a year and half after my second. It isn't the same for others, I know, but that is why we have faith, prayer, that is why we turn to God.

Do you believe that God knew you before you were created? If yes, then think about this.....

God created your soul, and then created your body in your mother's womb. If your mother would have had an abortion, she would have killed the soul that God sent to this world. If she would have taken birth control or used contraceptives, she then, would have prevented the soul that God created from entering this world as intended. Murder.

The Catholic church doesn't force married couples to have ten or twenty children. But it does require them to agree to be fruitful and always open to life, in order to fulfill the deepest meaning and purpose of marital union. Having children is not meant to be seperated from marital love, but to be a full everlasting expression of it.

This world is not troubled with too many families having to many kids, but instead, too many families having too few - or none at all. In most Christain countries, especially Europe, birth rates are so low that there is actually negative population growth. According to the ultimately selfish, "anti-child" mentality that feuls contraception, children are viewed as burdens or inconveniences even to the point of being slaughtered before they are born. Abortion is commonly employed as a back up to contraceptives......

The Bible clearly states that children, ALL children are blessings. Yet sadly many Christains today are thinking and living much closer to the secular or ancient pagan cultures than to a Biblical worldview.

Psalm 127:3-5 "Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his wuiver full of them!

This country and the whole human race in general is lacking in prayer, faith, hope and morality. Look forward, look up and live your life for God. Not for your self. PRAY PRAY PRAY!

" It has been left to the last Christains, or rather to the first Christains fully commited to blaspheming and denying Christianity, to invent a new kind of worship of Sex, which is not even a worship of Life. It has been left to the very latest Modernists to proclaim an erotic religion which one exalts lust and forbids fertility.... The new priests abolish the fatherhood and keep the feast - to themselves." - G.K. Chesterton
